In Which I Have Something To Say About Stephen Strasburg

Good morning. Stephen Strasburg’s mechanics suck and he’s going to get hurt.

Definitely hyperabducts, and definitely has a timing problem. Hey, at least he wears his socks the right way. Seriously, though, observe the difference between that photo, and a photo of someone with good mechanics:

Straight line from elbow to elbow, leading foot positioned to land much more square to the place, and the ball held above the shoulder right before footstrike. Yeah, that’s what I call flawless.

So hey, Strasburg? You have a lot to learn, buddy. I mean a lot. Good luck.

Hump Day Hotties: Barry Zito and Tim Lincecum

Good morning. Please bear with me as I attempt to explain why I’m the worst Dodgers fan ever.

Prettiness abounds. Hit the jump for more awesomeness.

Hump Day Hottie: US Open

With football about to get started this week and the Olympics winding down to a close (not to mention the continued play of baseball) you might not have realized that the last tennis major of the year has started. Yes, the US Open has begun (with a damn good first night match I might add) and with that the return of all the gorgeous men that play the sport. I’ve made known my love for Rafael Nadal and we’ve shared the hotness that is Novak Djokovic. I’m sure everyone here knows all about Andy Roddick and James Blake and Richard Gasquet (underrated hottie in my opinion). But how many of you know of Paul-Henri Mathieu?

That’s why this week’s HDH is going to profile the tennis players seeded lower than 10 at the US Open. There are some downright hot players out there that don’t have all the limelight on them. Shame really. Continue reading

Hump Day Hottie: Troy Dumais

The Olympics are a little over two weeks away. And while the event may turn out to be a complete disaster, the athletes going are making up for it. Especially those in events where little to nothing is being worn. And water is involved. Yeah, it makes up for it. One of the American Olympians is former Texas Longhorn Troy Dumais. This is his third games he’s attending. Congratulations Troy.

Red Wings Atop NHL Mountain!

For the fourth time in 11 seasons the Detroit Red Wings are in possession of Lord Stanley’s Cup. Congratulations to the Wings and all their fans out there. Enjoy your championship. Especially since some of us who root for other Michigan teams are looking at the possibility of a long while without the chance at seeing a championship (*grumble*stupid Detroit Tigers*grumble*). And Pittsburgh Penguins fans don’t hang your heads. The way I see it y’all have a young team that looks like it has quite a few years to win the Cup for themselves. This is only the beginning.

One thing y’all know about me is that I love championship pictures. And I’m pretty sure you all know that’s what’s coming up. Congratulations once again to the Red Wings and their fans.

Playoff Hotties: We’re Going to Miss You in About a Week Edition

In no particular order, let’s take a look at the boys we probably won’t be seeing much of in two or three games!

Denver: Kleiza!
To sum up the Denver defense:

THIS! IS! DENvahh fuck it.

Well, to be fair, Linas always plays hard.

Nom nom nom…I mean, uh. If you’re into that sort of thing.

Frozen Four: Battle Of The Initials

I don’t think anybody, from the hardcore college hockey fans to the ones just watching it for the first time, expected the results that came about on Thursday night. Especially the first semi-final game. At least in how lopsided it was. You know what’s hot? Having a hat trick. Here’s to you, Nathan Gerbe.

Boston College beat North Dakota for the third straight time (damn) 6-1. Maybe there should be a moratorium on these two teams playing in the semi-finals for now on, ok? Can’t they be bracketed on opposite sides? Continue reading
