Foodie Friday…on a Monday!

Hey foodie fans – I know it’s a little strange to see a Foodie Friday post on a Monday, but hear me out: Beer Cheese Cupcakes with Bacon Cheddar Cream Cheese Frosting. Yup, you heard me. And since Mondays aren’t anyone’s favorite and cupcakes make everything better, and also in honor of Fat Tuesday being tomorrow, I thought I would share my new favorite recipe with you all that was a TOTAL SUCCESS for Super Bowl Sunday :)

New slogan? Ladies...: Bringing The Meat Since 2007

We’ve made our predictions. Now it’s time to get cookin’. And drinkin’. In fact, it is advised to do both at the same time.  The other Ladies… and I have pulled together a Friday Foodie post of epic proportions. If you’re getting a bit bored of chili, we have several suggestions to ensure your Super Bowl Party guests won’t be pulling Manning Faces over the menu. Continue reading

Friday Foodie: Hot Reuben Dip, Spicy Micheladas and Oh Yeah… Yankee Lovin!

So that happened… my boys in pinstripes won the World Series, Godzilla took home the MVP and all is right with the world.  It’s a bitter sweet feeling, harassing Sox fans since just hasn’t had the same feel.  Is it spring training yet???

But not to worry, I hopped in the kitchen, thought about football and got right back in the swing of things.

So today I bring you another delectable treat, perfect for your tail-gaiting and football spreads!

Friday Foodie… New York Edition with a Pumpkin Ale Showdown

While the NLCS got into full swing last night I’ve got my mind set on one thing… my boys in blue and the kick off of the ALCS.  In honor of my Bronx Bombers finally not pooping the bed in the post season for the first time in ages,  I’m here showing a little Friday Foodie love!

Foodie Friday: Bee’s Football Chili with BONUS BEER REVIEW

Photobucket

Oooh! Look at Adrian among the fall colours (photo: Getty Images)

With sweater weather in full swing and four weeks of fabulous NFL football under our belts, our palates crave the mellow, hearty tastes of autumn: apple pie, squash and pumpkin, free range turkey roasting in the oven stuffed with two boxes of Stove Top (I realize that this kind of defeats the purpose of the whole free-from-processed-crap slow-food movement, but damn, Stove Top is tasty!)

While a recipe for roast turkey would be more fitting this weekend as it is Canadian Thanksgiving, I realize that I did promise a chili recipe quite a while ago. Promise fulfilled after the jump.

Foodie Friday: Easy “Piazza” Dough & Ham and Mushroom Pizza

Easy Piazza Dough 1 In my mind, Mike Piazza will forever be linked to thoughts of the Subway Series, broken bats, and the pissy temper of Roger Clemens. For many of you, however, the former Dodger/Met/Marlin-for-ten-minutes was a beloved figure with his love of heavy metal and his career .308 AVG/.377 OBP/.545 SLG.

So forgive the unfortunate pun. Today’s Foodie Friday will provide a delicious foundation for endless disc-shaped meals. With football season just around the corner – or the Yankees/Red Sox series in full swing – you’ll want to keep this recipe handy. It also makes a great potluck theme – offer to look after making the pizza dough and have your friends bring over their favourite toppings (Seriously, you get the better end of this deal! Have you seen the price of cheese lately?) Continue reading

Foodie Friday: Blue-Jay-Berry Cobbler

Halladay

Roy ponders the idea of enjoying a delicious serving of cobbler just as soon as he finishes pitching another complete game.

I realize this edition of Foodie Friday doesn’t exactly scream “Food for Boozy Sports Gathering”. But if you need something to bring to a girlfriends’ potluck, a family reunion picnic, or damnit you just want comfort food, this cake-y dessert fits the bill nicely. Besides, wild blueberry season is approaching (at least in my neck of the woods) I usually buy a 5 lb. box and spend the better part of six months making this, or muffins, or pancakes. If you want, I’ll dig out those recipes another day (good for football brunch!) For now, enjoy a recipe inspired by the hapless Jays after the jump. Continue reading

Foodie Friday: Mojitos

Behold my awesome phallic cocktail shaker!

Behold my awesome phallic cocktail shaker!

It seems that many of you are missing the recipes that made this site so delectable. Back when I just a mere follower of this site, I was always excited about The Starter Wife’s weekly foodie column (remember this one and this one?), so much that if I met her in real space I’d probably greet her with a Wayne’s World-style “I’m not worthy!” We know you love them, too! Don’t think I haven’t noticed that Clare’s PUDDING SHOTS are continuously listed in our Top Posts (and I CANNOT blame you! Must. Try.)

Let’s face it – sports, food and good company go hand in hand…in hand? And the Ladies… are all about giving you what you want. So we’re bringing it back, albeit on a quasi-regular basis. We’ll do our best!

I’ll start by winning you over with …mojitos!
