Hit and Run: Football, Football, and more Football!!

The NFL regular season is over. With Alabama winning the BCS National Championship game, college football won’t be back until next fall. For those of you who play fantasy football, a winner has already been decided. (Congrats to THE Blonde Bomber for winning the ladies… fantasy football!) But don’t be too sad. There is still plenty going on in the football world. There’s coaching changes in college football. New coaches in the NFL. And mostly importantly there’s the NFL playoffs!! The Cowboys remembered how to win in January (which didn’t make me very happy). The Patriots got slaughtered by the Ravens (which did make me happy). This weekend is a new set of games that will hopefully be more entertaining than the Wild Card games. (Admit it, aside from the Cards/Packers game, all those games were pretty boring.)

Congrats to Bama for beating the Longhorns 37-21 in the BCS title game.

With Pete Carroll leaving USC to coach for the Seahawks, it opened the position up for Kiffin.

Lane Kiffin was one and done in Tennessee. He may have only been there for one season, but he sure left a lasting impression. Between calling out other NCAA coaches and getting blown out by Virginia Tech 37-14 in the Chick-fil-A Bowl, Kiffin’s tenure as head coach was tumultuous. Fans of the Volunteers were none too pleased to hear that Kiffin was leaving for USC. Let’s see if he’ll have a better time coaching the Trojans.

Rookie Mark Sanchez won his first ever playoff game by beating the Bengals 24-14. This Sunday Sanchez and the Jets will have a much harder time if they plan on winning their second playoff game. New York heads to San Diego to take on the Chargers. That’s not going to be an easy task, and to be honest I don’t think the Jets are coming out with a win. But hopefully they can put up a good fight. Let’s see if Braylon Edwards remembers how to play.

With Romo finally winning a playoff game, I guess I’ll have to officially retire this photo. Hopefully this weekend will provide me with some new photos to torture Cowboys fans with.

I’m an admitted hater of anything that has to do with Dallas. I enjoy watching them lose almost as much as I like watching the Giants win. I hate the Cowboys so much that I was actually rooting for the Eagles last week. It’s hard for me to say anything nice about them. But I have to give credit where it’s due. They not only won the game against Philly, they dominated it. Romo doesn’t have to worry about always hearing how he’s never won a playoff game. It’s all good times for the Cowboys right now. Well, hopefully all that will change this weekend when they play the Vikings. I’m not the biggest Favre fan but I’m hoping he has the game of his life.

The other two games this weekend are Colts/Ravens and Saints/Cardinals. Have a good weekend and enjoy the games!

  1. I absoluely can’t wait for the Ravens game tomorrow. It’s Joe Flacco’s birthday and a win against the hated Colts would be sweet. (BTW – Joe Flacco has 3 playoff wins in his sophomore season – Romo has 1 in 4 seasons. tee hee)

  2. Oooo, I would love a Ravens win — because if the Jets beat the Chargers, we’d get to host next week!

I am not rooting for the Vikings, however, because the Saints bar where I watch games with my Saints fan boyfriend is also a Vikings bar and I am kind of afraid of the chaos that might ensue in the event of a Saints-Vikings NFC championship.
