Hot Stove hotties

The instant the World Series ended, MLB general managers started to barter and bicker to build up their teams. Each Thursday this Hot Stove season, we’ll look at some done deals and juicy rumors involving our favorite MLB hotties. If you want a comprehensive rundown of rumors, go to MLBTR. If you want the pretty, stay right here!

Jake Peavy

Peavy’s been the big story of this offseason so far, with rumors linking him to just about every team. It seems the Cubs and Braves are at the head of the pack, but the Cubs have the edge. Chicago might have to move Rich Harden to make that happen.

Hope you Cubs fans enjoyed him while you had him...Rich Harden might have to be traded.

Apparently the Cardinals might move Rick Ankiel, who is apparently a hottie.

The World Effing Champion Phillies have a ton of free agents to deal with this winter, which I only mention as an excuse to use this picture of Pat Burrell’s ass.

Wow.

Wow.

The Rockies pretty much have to deal Matt Holliday to someone, but they might not get as much as they originally wanted. I’d guess that has something to do with the fact that he’s an amazing hitter in Denver, but…who isn’t? His numbers away from Coors are still good, but maybe not worth selling the whole farm for.

He may not be tappin the Rockies next season

In a move that I absolutely despise, last Thursday the Royals sent reliever Leo Nunez to Florida for 1B Mike Jacobs. Nunez is a right-handed reliever with constant injury issues. When he’s healthy, he’s a thrill; his tiny frame produces a lively fastball in the mid- to upper-90s. Jacobs played 1st base for Florida, but only because the NL doesn’t have a DH. No two ways around it, his defense is awful.

Florida will be fine after this trade if Nunez is healthy. Kansas City…well, they already have way too many 1B/DH candidates, so why add another one? This was a fair trade, but not a good fit for the Royals.

Mike Jacobs as a Royal...I am not amused.

  1. I’m just hoping that next season the Mets get something close to what Delgado gave them this season.

Oh, and a bullpen. Have I mentioned that we need a whole new bullpen?

  2. Much as I would be SOOOOO crushed if the Cards traded Ankiel, if we can get a starting pitcher whose arm is not falling off and maybe a middle infielder, I could learn to live with it.

  3. Please, please, please – if Rich Harden must be traded, make it to another tam that sports the pinstripes. And allows nearly naked pictures from the locker room.

/still laughing over the “baseball ass” tag
