Something you should know about Miss Minda: I hate Miami sports. As far as I’m concerned, “Da U!” can eat poop. They were #1 heading into the College World series, but after facing Stanford last night…they gone!
Georgia, Stanford, Fresno State, and either North Carolina or LSU (depending on tonight, plus another game tomorrow if necessary) are still in it. Here’s the bracket, for your viewing pleasure.
And here was the view from my lovely GA seats, as taken by my badass friend Kacey:
Before I took those seats, I spent a few innings with strangers on the bridge beyond right field that connects the reserved seating area to the GA bleachers. They shared their sunflowers with me, and between batters or during inning breaks, we had spitting contests with various targets on the concourse below us: cracks in the sidewalk, douchebags of varying age and gender passing by, whatever. I love how acceptable spitting is within the confines of a ballpark. Can’t beat it.
Now it’s time for me to head back to Rosenblatt Stadium to see North Carolina and LSU. I have arbitrarily chosen UNC as “my team” for the day, so…Go Heels! WOOOOO!
UPDATE: A friend and I tried to go to the game, but by the time we even got anywhere near the stadium, it was already standing room only – they were doing one-in/one-out like a bar. It was also beginning to rain as we approached, and a security guy told us he was pretty sure there’d be no game. So we left. Then it POURED as we walked more than a mile back to our car.
So no game tonight, basically, and I need to change my soggy gross clothes. Fail.
Looks like fun – that stadium looks cool, we really need to come up there this summer.
BTW, yay Royals – sweep!!! (Sorry Andrea!)
That’s awesome.
I think some college boys would cheer me up right about now.
Miami was dead the day they joined the ACC and inherited the going-on 52-year curse. North Carolina is as good as dead.
GO STANFORD! (Sorry. I have a soft spot for smart baseball players.)
Liza, I dig Stanford too, moreso after they knocked Miami out. I’m rooting for UNC to make it to the championship series, then lose…I’m pretty sure no team has ever come in 2nd 3 years in a row. So Stanford can go ahead and keep winning, all the way as far as I’m concerned.
