Would You….Listen to What She’s Saying Part III: Pam Oliver and Stacey Dales

Pam OliverAs we noted earlier in our “Would you do Chris Berman” post, over at The Big Picture they’re having a nice little bracket seeding the female broadcasters against each other in a “Would you…” tourney. Their “Would you…” usually ends with comments that would make Red Buttons Andrew Dice Clay Bob Saget blush. Now while we Ladies are far from shrinking violets, we were better off not knowing what “DSL” meant.

So for the rest of “Would you…” tournament, we’re going to give you the reasons why we like these women. Today SA is telling you all about Pam Oliver and Lady Andrea is letting you know about the finer points of Stacey Dales.

Pam Oliver

>>Born March 10, 1961 in Dallas
>>Was a scholarship athlete (track) at FAMU where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Broadcast Journalism in 1984
>>Choose FAMU specifically because it was a HBCU school
>>Was an All-American in both the 400-meter and mile relay
>>Qualified for the US Olympic trials
>>Has worked for ESPN, Fox Sports, and Turner Sports
>>Is the sideline reporter for Fox Sports top broadcast team during the NFL season

Why we love her: How many female African-American sports journalists do you see? She is one of the very few and does a kick-ass job. She also threatened to punch Keyshawn Johnson if he ever touched her. And really, don’t we all want to do that?

Stacey Dales

>>Born September 5th, 1979
>>Played Guard/Forward for the University of Oklahoma and in 2002 led them to the championship game, where they lost to UConn
>>was a 1st Team All-American in 2001 and 2002
>>finished her career as the all-time assists leader at Oklahoma
>>in 2002 she was drafted 3rd overall by the Washington Mystics
>>Specializes in women’s college basketball analysis for ESPN and was named Rookie Analyst of the Year by USA Today in 2002

Why we love her: because she’s not a tiny waif broadcaster. At 6’0 and 160 lbs, she’s a substantial woman. She was also a kick-ass basketball player and knows her stuff on ESPN. Stacey is smart, articulate and engaging to watch. The Ladies… salute you!

  1. Has anyone else noticed the utter wretchedness of the WNBA website? Soecifically, the player bios…I do love me some Miss Dales, and she deserves better than that mess.

  2. Between Beckham slash-fiction & WNBA website, how are you not chaptered, yet?

… & my pick: Oliver. Definite milf, or milfish, at least.
