Hit And Run: (Mostly) Celebrity Edition

As excited as the Ladies get for baseball’s All-Star festivities, we tend to ignore the Celebrity Softball game.  I may have to at least DVR it, however, now that Chris Pratt (Parks and Rec, Everwood) has been announced as one of the celebrities. Chris is in the Moneyball movie as one of the A’s prospects, so he’s presumably had at least some movie prep coaching.  If he brings MouseRat to sing the national anthem, I’ll even watch it live.

Also on the celeb roster:

Dave Annable from Brothers and Sisters.  Perhaps Dave and Chris can share Emily Van Camp stories.

In other celebrity baseball news, Zooey Deschanel plays fantasy baseball. Well, kind of (get Hamilton back in your lineup, Zooey!). But if I win my league (not easy now that my lineup has a Pujols sized hole in it), I’m totally making myself a victory cake.

Zooey’s league has a bit more generous scoring than ours, Bee.

And finally, your feel good story of the day.  Remember this?

Bart Scott caught some flak when it turned out he trademarked the phrase “Can’t Wait” after it caught the imaginations of Jets fans everywhere.  Turns out, though, that the proceeds from the first run of “Can’t Wait” t-shirts will go to help paralyzed Rutgers linebacker Eric LeGrand.  Nice thinking, Bart!

  1. Now that’s delicious scoring!

Speaking of delicious, Chris Pratt. I had no idea he was in the Moneyball movie! In fact, I had no idea it was even a go.

I wonder if Chris will run the team through the Ron Swanson Pyramid of Greatness.

    • Not only is it a go, apparently Aaron Sorkin was in on the rewrite of the script at some point, Brad Pitt is playing Billy Beane, and former St. Louis Cards shortstop Royce Clayton is playing Miguel Tejada. I think I have to go see this movie just from a surreal standpoint.
