Friday Fellow: Brett Gardner

Yankees
We know you’ve been missing the baseball banter. But please bear with us…we’re melllltiiiing!

The following post won’t do a damn thing to cool you down, either. So enjoy this montage of the hotness that is Yankee outfielder Brett Gardner after the jump, and then take a cold shower.

South Carolina southpaw Brett Gardner joined the Bombers in June 2008 and became a full-time fixture in the outfield the following season. 2009 was tough for Brett with injury issues, but he still managed an alright .270/.349/.379. Oh, and have we mentioned stolen bases? Brett is a speed demon. He had 26 stolen bases last season, but already has 25 in 2010.

Fun Fact About Brett: he scored the final run in old Yankee Stadium on September 21, 2008 pinch running for Jason Giambi, scoring on a sac fly by Robinson Cano.

More Recent Fun Fact About Brett: Gardner had his first ever grand slam last weekend against Ricky Romero of the Toronto Blue Jays. Chad Jennings of the LoHud Yankees Blog has Brett’s comments – including a friendly dig at Swish – here.

Brett is married *sigh* and a young dad at that, but we’ll keep daydreaming.

Brett gives my second husband Derek the Bombers Secret Handshake (yes, that's from last season. I miss Melky.)

Maybe he won’t be joining Jeter, Cano, Pettitte, Hughes (!), A-Rod and Swish (!!) for the All-Star Game next week, but Brett will always get the votes to start for Team Bee.

Oh, and YES, we do plan on liveblogging the Home Run Derby and the All-Star Game next week. We’ll have the dets here and on the Facebook page soon.
