Lady Bee here with a Hab for tonight’s Hanukkah Hunk: meet Mike Cammalleri.
You may recall Mike from such Posts by Raven as this one and this one. The Richmond Hill, ON native is one of the bright spots in an otherwise meh season for Montreal so far, leading the team in goals (17) and plus-minus (10). Mike is also second in scoring behind Tomas Plekanic. But the Habs are .500, and there’s plenty of hockey to be played.
Mike is also demi-Jewish with a remarkable family history, as he explained in an interview with the Montreal Gazette this past October:
“My dad’s family are immigrants from Italy and Catholics, and my grandmother on my mother’s side is from Czech, and my grandfather is from Poland – and they’re Holocaust survivors.
“I never had communion or a bar mitzvah,” he added. “I was raised non-denominationally. I would go to my grandmother’s house for Hanukkah and my grandmother on my other side for Christmas. We’d celebrate, so I got double the gifts.”
How Canadian! Mike, I’d meet you for a reuben at Schwartz’s any day of the week.
Yep, I second that idea, Bee! :)
Schwartz’s would be yummy regardless of the dinner companion. I’d even dine with one of the Kostitsyns just for a whiff of that smoked meat goodness.
nice site!!!!!!!!!
