More Flags! More Fun! Six Flags with the Caps!

This was from last year, but you get the point!

So I’m only a few hours removed from one of the coolest nights ever. As most of you already know, I’m a Washington Capitals season ticket holder.  One of the perks of being a STH is a party with the team at Six Flags America.  Well, last night was the party, and I thought I would share some photos and stories from the event.

Follow me after the jump for some pictures of some hockey hotties. And I promise there is gratuitous Steckel.

First things first, here’s how the event works.  The rides are open at the park, and the guys on the team are stationed throughout the park doing autographs for an hour and change.  We all got vouchers in the mail to redeem for tickets at the gate.  The first 450 people to arrive at a certain gate get wristbands to enter the Alex Ovechkin autograph line.  If you don’t have a wristband, you don’t get an autograph.  I knew I would never get there early enough for a wristband, so I resigned myself to the fact that I wouldn’t see Ovi.  No biggie.

So I get there around 6:30pm due to work and traffic.  My dad and I go in, chat up some people we know, and then we head over to Brooks Laich’s autograph line.  I had to get a puck signed for my sister.  The guys behind us in line inform us they just got off one of the roller coasters and Brooks was a few rows in front of them on the ride.  I’m kicking myself for not getting there earlier.

Hes smilin...and signing my puck!

After we’re done with Brooks, we meander around not knowing where we were.  We stumble upon Jeff Schultz and Tyler Sloan.  Not gonna lie, I kinda love Tyler.  (It’s the eyes)  So I have this cool Caps lunch box that my sister snagged at a kids giveaway day even though she’s 19. I hand it to Jeff to sign, and he promptly asks me if I carry this lunch box.  It was kinda cute and flirty, but, sorry Jeff, I’m a Green girl.

We knew we couldn’t get everybody’s autograph, so Dad and I decide that Nick Backstrom would be a good get.  His line was fairly long, but it got even longer after we got in.  Good timing, I guess.  He has the most adorable little baby face.  I wish I could have gotten a pic of him smiling.  Awww, so cute!

Gotta get the lunch box signed...he found himself on the box and signed there. haha

So after Nick, I knew I had to get David Steckel, if not for me, then for the Ladies… readers.  What can I say about Stecks?  Gorgeous!!  He’s even hotter in person.  Love him!  I’m sad to say that when he was signing the lunch box, my camera froze and wouldn’t take a picture.  Time to invest in a better camera!

Ahh dimples...bet he was peeved he was signing a Green jersey!

After Stecks, I was done with autographs, but I wanted to go around snap some pics of the other guys.  My best pic was of Alex Semin.  And I really wish Mike Green wasn’t wearing a stupid hat!

So then Dad and I had to get food, but for some reason could not find the picnic area.  We wandered some, and then when we realized it was right where we were before.  So we headed back, and I see this familiar face heading right towards me.  It’s OVI!!!  I knew it right away, but apparently others were oblivious.  We were right by David Steckel, and as Ovi passed he yelled, “Oh my God, it’s David Steckel!!” lol  He is hilarious.  Love Ovi, and I’m so glad he’s ours.

So we grab some grub, and head off for the Ride of Steel.  First, let me say that this is hands-down one of the best roller coasters I have ever ridden.  And I’ve been on a lot of roller coasters.  So we’re waiting in line, and we’re already stationed in our little row to board the ride, when all of sudden there is a commotion near the exit gate.  Guess who? Ovechkin and Semin!  They wanted the front, so they held up the line and them and a couple staffers got to ride.  As they were getting them situated, Brooks Laich shows up!  They let him board with his little entourage of staffers, and off they go.  The next car boards, and when Ovi and company return, they want to go again!  So the people in front of us board, and we are front and center when Ovi, Semin and Brooksie return from their second trip! I got some photos, so enjoy!

I made sure I snapped Brooks on the ride! The best part was that this was the Ovechkin Laich Semin ride. (think hard about that last phrase...lol)

So after my “ride of steel” (haha), we exited and went into the store where you can buy photos, and Ovi was still there! It’s like he was haunting us! haha  Anyway, we rode some more coasters, I told a Six Flags employee I wasn’t planning on coming back because they wanted to charge me $1 to put my bag in a locker at every single ride and we went home happy campers.  All in all, it was a great night!  I hope you enjoyed my recap, and here is some video for you of the evening courtesy of the best web-designing backup goalie the Caps have ever had! (The video is pretty funny…Ovi keeps saying he wants to ride the Batmobile!)

  1. Totally cool. I really enjoyed this post. For Devils season ticket holders, we didn’t get something that cool. But they did have a BBQ in September where the players mingled in with the fans. Even the big name guys. It was fun.

  2. WOW! That sounded fricken’ awesome! Events like this is why hockey is so great.

“Ovechkin Laich Semin”…giggle! Got that one right away, although I’m not sure what it says about me. :)
