When athletes say stupid things: Bronson Arroyo

I don't even know what to say here.

Sorry to interrupt the normal flow of affairs, but I have been stewing all day over this one (and no, it has nothing to do with residual bitterness over 2004)

So Bronson Arroyo openly discussed the number of supplements he’s taking that he may or may not get nailed over in an interview with USA Today. And he made it clear he doesn’t give a rat’s ass what people think.

That’s fine, Bronson. But the next time you open your piehole, would you mind thinking before you speak? For instance, when comparing the use of steroids to another risky activity, try not comparing it to, say, impaired driving:

“It might be dangerous,” he says, “but so is drinking and driving. And how many of us do it at least once a year? Pretty much everybody.”

See, Bronson, when you take steroids, you are only harming yourself and pissing off thousands of baseball fans. When you drink and drive, you are not only putting yourself in danger, you are endangering everyone else on the road! Every year, thousands of people are killed due to impaired driving, tens of thousands more are injured, and many of them are just innocent sober bystanders.

So, yeah, Bronson, I have a problem with your faulty logic.

Oh, by the way, some of us baseball fans do care if that shit’s going to kill you by the age of 50. For one thing, I don’t my kids growing up thinking that the only way they’re going to be able to get ahead athletically is to put that crap in their bodies. But then again, as a parent, it’s my job to help them make the right choices, rather than be influenced by the likes of you.

Dumbass.

  1. Wow, I think I just got stupider just looking at that picture! Bronson just really needs STFU. It’s fine to be frank and honest, but the drunk driving comparison is way off base. Plus, should he really be bragging about using so many freakin’ supplements when he has been such a big pile of inconsistent suck these past few years? How much more horrible would he be w/out them?!

  2. ::and another little part of my happy red sox memories die::

Ugh. I concur with above, the steroids moderately piss me off but the drunk driving comparison is way out of line X-/

Wha- When is that picture even from??
