To Ram or Not to Ram…

While some may think that May is a bit early to be discussing football, I disagree! Especially when contemplating adding a new team to your rooting roster.  The St. Louis Rams (now you really think I’m crazy!) have been on a my radar for the past few years, and now with the acquisition of a certain Ohio State player I thought it was time to analyze their potential in becoming mine, and possibly your, new team!

I see a trend in my posts relating to time travel, so let’s roll with it… On to that beautiful time of year when Football and Baseball intersect to form a perfect fall day!

Now don’t get me wrong, I will never lose any loyalty to my number one team, the Indianapolis Colts, but I do love a challenge, so bring on the 2-14 St. Louis Rams!

Steven Jackson

I had the immense pleasure of having Jackson on my fantasy team in 2006 when he finished the season with 1,528 rushing yards and 13 tds.  While his 2008 season was marginally better than 07, maybe the horror of last years finish will push this killer running back to come back better than ever in 09.

Donnie Avery

donnie_avery_wide1026After the loss of Torry Holt, Rams 2008 Rookie of the Year, Avery is their go-to receiver.  Finishing 08 with 674 receiving yards, catching 53 passes, 3 tds and 1 rushing td, this guy is going to be sick in 09, mark my words!

Antonio Pittman

antonio-pittman_1As the second longest rusher (by a long shot), and decent receiving in 2008, I’ve got to believe my boy can bounce back in 09.

James Laurinaitis

lilanimalWhile I was a bit confused after the botched, “St. Louis Cardinals,” by Ray Anderson, I was super pumped for the James to land in St. Louis.  This 3 time All-American middle line-backer from THE ohio state is poised to do big things in the NFL.

Oshiomogho Atogwe

sanfrancisco49ersvstlouisramsghb9di-micslFree safety Atogwe is another player poised to have a break out year in 09, finishing the 08 season with 5 interceptions, 83 tackles and forcing 6 fumbles.

Kyle Boller

boller2The Ravens loss is the Rams gain.  Holding the all-time Ravens record for most career passing yards with 7,846, I can’t help but hope that he doesn’t remain Bulger’s (gag) back-up for long.

Chris Long

stlouisramsvtennesseetitanslqscnicr6sulLast but certainly not least is Mr. Chris Long. 40 tackles and 4 sacks in his rookie year, not stellar, but I’ll take it.  Blame my mother for my over-developed love for this man, she feels the same way about his father!

richie-incognito-hipsI have faith that head coach Steve Spagnuolo can get this group of youngins to at least 5 wins this year,  and now I hope you feel the same!

  1. As a Ravens fan, and big-time Boller supporter, I realized that I would, indeed, have to root for the Rams this year. I hope Kyle has an amazing season…even though it was the St. Louis Rams that hurt Kyle his rookie year, and killed what was looking like a promising season. Oh well…the things I do for Mr. Boller!

  2. It’s been hard seeing them lose. I hope they pick it up next season.
Atogwe has one heck of a name.
Hope to see Boller do well.

  3. You just made me feel so old-I’ve always had huge crush Howie too! And as much as I hate to admit it, I sort of like Laurenitis.

  4. You’re more than welcome on the Rams bandwagon…we need all the help we can get. Plus, if you start being a fan now, you can sound smart when we’re good again in 2 or 3 years.

Also, you can come comment on our blog since we consist of a Rams fan and a Colts fan. It all makes sense.
