Phillies win, so we can Hot Stove now

As Tim Dierkes pointed out, the World Series ending means offseason moves are now beginning. Starting next week, I’ll feature a few trades/rumors that involve MLB hotties. (Well, here’s one for you, nice and early.)

But for now…Phillies covered in champagne!

And, your World Series MVP, Cole “Balls the Size of the Sun” Hamels.

When it’s my 30th birthday, I hope my hot husband is winning the World Series MVP. Ole’ Sunballs also won a new car…apparently the 2010 Camaro already exists, even though 2009 hasn’t even arrived yet? Magical. Anyway, Hamels totally deserves the award for a few reasons, including how he handled this:

He got hurted in his hand!

He got hurted in his hand!

K, so, if you missed it…Hamels was trying to bunt, and he got hit in his throwing hand. He takes it like a champ and bunts on the next pitch anyway. It doesn’t work, so Hamels ends up on first and is out there a long, LONG time while Jimmy Rollins works a walk behind him. Then he was out on the basepaths even longer, and eventually got stranded on 3rd.

And then he went right back out and pitched the next inning, as if his throwing hand hadn’t been mashed up by a 90+ mph pitch. Cole Hamels = The Balls.

Gratuitious Hamels

It was Mrs. Sunballs birthday! Happy birthday indeed.

OK, just one more. Hamels. Because I can.

OK, just one more. Hamels: Because I can.

And lastly…the Rays. To have made it as far as they did is pretty spectacular. That’s probably little consolation after losing such a crazy game. Now, would anyone like to step up and volunteer to console Evan Longoria here?

Sad Longoria is sad.

  1. Aww, Evan. I have no reason to care beyond being in Florida, but, aww. Longoria is a cutie and Tampa sucks at everything sports-related in general…but so many of my friends are Phillies fans, and they’ve all gone ballistic…so, yay Phillies! It was a good series, at least. And Hamels and Chutley are adorbs.

  2. Ah, there’s nothing like winning at home. And thanks to the Ladies here for introducing me to the beauty of the Phillies that I somehow missed when we played them.

As for Longoria, he plays in the AL east, so I hope there’s lots and lots of pain. :)
