The starters for the 2008 Major League Baseball All-Star game have been announced, and the game is a mere week away. It will be the last All-Star game ever played at Yankee Stadium, as the Bronx Bombers move into their new digs next season. While all of the elected starters are obviously talented, only some of them managed to avoid the editing room floor for getting their photos included here – after the jump…
Who am I kidding? They all made the cut!

When doing all the tough “research” for this post, I thought about quoting stats or making predictions. But all I could think of was their smiles, and muscles … their eyes, the scruffy facial hair, and their cute personalities! So I left it alone – the pictures speak for themselves. But tell me what you think in the comments. Who are the best looking reserve nominees? Pitchers? Your favorite players left out?
Well, there you have it. Enjoy! I know you’ll be back.
Just saw this on my feed, and it certainly cheered me right up. :) For the reserves, I’ll take Sizemore and Kinsler, please.
All those Cubs sure make the NL a nice looking team! By the way, I love that pic of Manny.
This may sound backwards but I didn’t want any of my Tigers on the All star team. So these results please me greatly. I’m concerned enough that Carlos Guillen made the reserves team. He’s like Mr. Glass!
But tell me what you think in the comments.
Okay. I know it’s kind of unpopular around here, but I dislike Dustin Pedroia. He’s a douche.
This post needs more Grady Sizemore, and less Yanks and Sox.
Go and vote for D-Wright!! http://mlb.mlb.com/index.jsp
Corey Hart of the Brewers holds a small lead in the NL vote.
@Pam: I’m with you there. Of course it isn’t popular, but Pedroia and Youkilis are annoying and would be on any team. Yes to more Grady Sizemore and a vote for cutie pitcher Scott Kazmir.
I wish the All-Star teams were completely selected by the manager or players. The starters are always ridiculous. Ichiro is having his worst statistical year and is on a horrible team. He should not be starting. It’s annoying b/c the fans don’t actually vote for the best players, they vote for who they recognize.
But well done on the eye-candy, Cin.
Pam – the world needs less Yanks and Sawx.
Kazmir is a cutie, but some part of me is in love with Hanley Ramirez. Alas, I am torn. Also, I have a soft spot for Joe Mauer, but mostly because he looks like Eddie Cahill
Andie – agreed. Youkilis? Ichiro? Really?
Joakim Soria is hot, although his beard is a little scraggly at present.
Agreed with all the people who shouldn’t be on these teams. Manny and Jeter are also not having their best years. And the players voting for Varitek (to spite A.J. Pierzynski, it seems) makes a mockery of the whole thing.
Chase Utley is HOT. I didn’t know that before now because I’m a fan of an AL team I guess.
Kazmir! Kazmir! Kazmir! Kazmir!
And everybody vote for Longoria!
Ugh it’s the Yankees/Red Sox vs. the Cubs. Not surprising. And the White Sox only got two picks… and NO PITCHERS. Also not surprising. Why does everyone hate the White Sox?
Joe Mauer and Hanley Ramirez are fiiiiiiiiiiiiiine tho.
I’m guessing this might be the best place to ask. I have a huge thing for Roy Halladay and I’m desperately trying to find a shot of him from the parade. Doc in a suit and a smile is a rare and beautiful thing. I know you guys have sources. Help a girl out?
MK, try the usual sources (Getty, Yahoo, etc.). They usually have pictures of everything. After that I would see if the team’s website have it. You never know.
I’ve got to give my respect to Josh Hamilton…and I say to him, “awesome and amazing” with what he is doing with his life and his “example”. GO Man, GO!!
As a UK-based Red Sox fan, I found your blog on google and read a few of your other Bosox posts. I just added you to my Google News Reader. Keep up the good work. Look forward to reading more from you in the future.
I really liked your blog with the Roy Halladay item. I think Halladay will be an instant hall-of-famer.
I try to follow as much MLB news as I can from Caracas, Venzuela.
