Watch This Space…

The Ladies have a big announcement coming tomorrow, so BOLO! (That’s Be On the Lookout!)

Meanwhile, I received Kenny Mayne’s book in the mail yesterday. His publisher mass-emailed bloggers offering a free copy and I said, “SURE!” I’ll post a more detailed review when I’m finished reading it, but so far I’m enjoying it. He has his schtick to be sure, but overall it’s decently entertaining. The best part about it is the anecdotes he includes about his daughters Riley and Annie. He asked them to draw picture representations of famous sporting events (the Immaculate Reception, Don Larsen’s perfect game) and the illustrations are priceless. Annie drew Larsen’s game as a bowling game. I’m not sure why she chose bowling, but it’s adorable.

I have always found Kenny Mayne strangely attractive. I cannot explain it. But I did tune in to Dancing with the Stars for ONE WEEK and it was to see Kenny Mayne dance. I would’ve continued to watch, but he was eliminated and I just could not get excited about Mario Lopez. I only want to see him dance with Elizabeth Berkeley.

  1. It is, Yostal. This young man will be caught, deep fried in a vat of hot oil and served to our first hundred customers. Just another tasty treat from the gang at Empire Records.

  2. Thanks LA and Chitown for helping me feel more normal! I’ve had this unexplainable attraction to him since his early days of SportsCenter. That smirk of his just gets me every time!

  3. I have to say I’m a little sad about the announcement, but I’ll add…

“We mustn’t dwell… no, not today. We CAN’T. Not on Rex Manning day.”

  4. Oh, man, Empire Records defined my youth. “Empire Records, open ’til midnight…MIDNIGHT! *click*”

And I have to agree about Kenny Mayne. He has such indefinable appeal. Yeah, probably the funny.

  5. “Indefinable appeal” sums it up.

I worked at a Blockbuster for 2 years of HS and then on breaks my first two years of college and it was SO MUCH like that movie it was scary. We had uniforms, which was a shame, but for real I had so many conversations that went, “Thank you for calling Blockbuster, home of Castaway, open til midnight…MIDNIGHT.”

  6. I’ve seen/met a lot of ESPN people in non-ESPN situations, and I don’t share the prominent opinion here of Kenny Mayne.
