Super Bowl XLII is the most watched ever, and the second biggest event in American TV history, second only to the M.A.S.H. finale (I wonder if the M.A.S.H. people sit around and toast when yet another telecast comes close but doesn’t break their record).
The NJ Devils defeat the Pittsburgh Penguins, 4-3, in OT. I work one block away from the Prudential Center, the Devils’ home, and it’s very disheartening to be dragging myself to the train station as all those shiny, happy people (please, no jokes about how New Jerseyans can’t be shiny, happy people, especially when they’re in Newark) decked out in red hockey sweaters on their way to fun while I’m on my way to a urine-stained seat on a New Jersey Transit seat. (Seriously, last week, the highlight of my day was that I got to ride the new double-decker trains. My life is bleak, yo.)
Moving on, Curtis Granderson is gonna get paid. He just inked an extension with the Detroit Tigers worth $30.25 million for 5 years. Sweet.
Andy Pettitte was deposed by some congressional committee or other (spare me, it’s all I can do to follow all the presidential stuff – and any of you in Super Tuesday states, go out and vote!). I don’t really care too much about that, but I’m digging his tie.
Deron’s gonna getcha!
The New Orleans Hornets became the latest victims to the Utah Jazz and their 10-game winning streak, losing 110-88.
