Hit and Run, November 7, 2007: Things You Probably Did Not Know

Australian surfer Mick Fanning won the Hang Loose Catarina Pro event in Brazil yesterday beating out defending two-year title holder Kelly Slater and fellow Aussie Taj Burrows to clinch the 2007 World Championship. You cannot see him from here on the shore, but trust me when I say he’s everything a blonde, blue-eyes Australian surfer should look like.

OK, don’t trust me.

See?

David Beckham is still over here in North America playing soccer? Really? Where is all the press? Where is the red carpet? Does ESPN still mention him every night on Sportscenter?

Ohhh… He’s playing in an exhibition game tonight with the Galaxy in Vancouver. Uh, yes. Thrilling. Yes. Vancouver Whitecaps. I am sure they are quite good. Up there with um… some Italian junior league.

When does he go back to England again?

Saints QB Drew Brees and former Saints QB Bobby Hebert launched Gridiron Wine Cellars with the proceeds to benefit the Brees Dream Foundation and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Quick! Without looking at the bottle which one is the Chardonnay?

The Islanders three goal third period surge was enough to take down the Rangers in a 3-2 victory on Tuesday night. Don’t care too much about this game, but just really wanted to post this great picture of Ben Walter.

No look pass? LeBron makes it look easy as he scored 24 points, grabbed 14 rebounds, and had 9 assists in the Cavs 108-104 win over Golden State.

  1. I must have that wine, preferably with a slice of Bree(s)! (OK that would have worked better if his name was spelled Bries, oh well.)

Abs. love that pic of Ben Walter; fantastic photography.

And LeBron is just cute as button!

  2. A wee bit too blond for my tastes, but I love his eyes.

And I can’t tell which is the bottle of chardonnay. I know fuck all about wine other than there’s red wine & white wine.

    Teach me! Refine me!

  3. I didn’t follow the link, so I could be off here, but isn’t Drew holding a Pinot Noir. The bottles are very similar shapes (are they the same?), but Chardonnay bottles are usually greenish and translucent while Pinot Noirs are dark and opaque. His bottle appears to be the latter.

  4. Canadians have soccer teams, but most of the time they play on frozen tundra and complain regularly about getting muddy.

Does Lebron look more than a little proud of his no-look pass there, or is it just me? That, “Damn am I THAT GOOD?” look.
