Bringing The Heat: Chicago Cubs

Lovable Losers. Curse of the Billy Goat. 99 years and counting. Cubs fans have had to endure it all.

But this year is a little different. Not only did the Cubbies field a talented team this season that produced on the diamond (exactly how well they produced won’t be known until Sunday)… they also managed to put together a roster full of cuties (and that’s even without uber-hottie Todd Walker).

You’re not going to find any pretty boys on this team, guys who overindulge on hair products (cough*PatBurrell*cough) or spend hours in front of the mirror (cough*ARod*cough). But you are going to find a handsome group of guys who are so hardworking and scrappy and cute you just want to take them home and bake them a nice batch of oatmeal cookies.

Everyone loves the Cubs- even Andie!- so just give in and sing along with me:

They got the power, they got the speed
To be the best in the National League
Well this is the year and Cubs are real
So come on down to Wrigley Field

Go, Cubs, go!
Go, Cubs, go!
Hey, Chicago, what do you say?
The Cubs are gonna win today!

Check out all the lovely Cubby goodness after the jump…

Let’s start off with my new favorite Cubbies- the Cajun tag team at 2B-SS who both played together at LSU…

Ryan “The Riot” Theriot – so very hot

mighty mouse Mike Fontenot

Theriot-Fontenot tag team – how cute!

the always dapper Derrek Lee

ginger cutie Matt Murton

Sean Marshall – bendy!

the go-to man, Aramis Ramirez

the cutest Cub of them all, Ted Lilly

bonus Teddy bear picture, because he’s just so handsome

stealth hottie Jacque Jones– I never realized he was so hot

reformed Yanks fan & former Cardinal (but we love him anyway), Jason Marquis

Daryle Ward, cutest smile in Chicago

swarthy sexy Mark DeRosa

Cub cuddle! Mark DeRosa and Jacque Jones

he may be crazy, but at least he’s our crazy- Carlos Zambrano

all right, Bob Howry– now you’re just teasing us

Ronny Cedeno– check the tongue of concentration (and the ink!)

super-fast, super-fly Alfonso Soriano

Ryan Dempster– he’s so cute when he’s not blowing saves

my main man, tall Texan Kerry Wood

No post detailing the men of the Cubs would be complete if it didn’t include the legendary Ronnie Woo-Woo.

And the real hottie of the Cubs… Wrigley Field.

About Texas Gal

Pitched four years for the Philadelphia Athletics, and then played shortstop for seven years for the Montreal Expos. Taught Rickey Henderson to steal a base. Taught Nolan Ryan to throw a punch. Taught Mickey Mantle to drink a beer. Threw one seven-hitter and seven no-hitters. Wonderboy was my creation, and first Jobu shrine was in my locker. Often called "the next Dustin Pedroia". Always wear high socks and eyeblack. Prefer to slide headfirst.

  1. YAY!!!!! I’ve been anticipating this post with such glee, and as usual Texy, you deliver. My favorite Cubbies are Matt Murton, because all the cool people have red hair, and Derrek Lee, because he’s smokin’ hot, and very nice.

  2. “Dapper” is just the word to describe Derrek Lee.

The Wrigley pictures made me so happy. I call it “my biggest friend”.

    Thanks, Texas Gal!

  3. I like the last picture or Wrigley.

Oh good, I was afraid for like a minute there when I though Andie liked the Cubs. That would have been heresy and the world would have collapsed.

  4. Foul balls sign over the bed = genius.

And college baseball is excellent for scouting- it’s where I first saw Huston Street, Jacoby Ellsbury and Ryan Theriot. Omaha during the CWS is heaven.

  5. Thank you, thank you, thank you for the hot shots of my man, Jacque Jones. I’ve been “Jonesin’ for Jacque” since his days as a Twin. (That was my cheesy sign at the Metrodome, by the way). I am now cleaning the druel out from the crevices of my keyboard.

  6. Compared to the active roster, though, Santo doesn’t have a leg to stand on.

Thanks, no thanks… Whatever. I’m here all week. Please trip your bartendrix.

  7. TwinsGoddess- it’s Teddy’s bedroom eyes. The pout is also a factor. He’s totally the strong-but-silent type.

And there’s a picture of Jockey (I reserve the right to continue to pronounce his name this way from back when he used to suck) smiling when he’s hugging DeRosa… it’s just a shame that stupid batter’s helmet got in the way of his eyes.

  8. Chitown- I just had a taco from that place on Tuesday night coming home from the *gulp* White Sox game. Ronnie Woo-Woo is a Cubs INSTITUTION. He’s my favorite part of sitting in the bleachers- other than, you know, the outfielders’ butts.

  9. I was afraid I was going to have to wait 99 years for Cubs hot list…thank you. Mark DeRosa is so fine. Hope tonight is the night (they clinch, not for me and DeRosa — although that would be great too!)

  10. ronnie woo woo is a hobo.
    and not the good kind.

the only cub i can manage to not hate with a fiery passion is none other than RYAN DEMPSTER. maybe ’cause he sucks so much. gotta love him.

and lilly because he’s such a cutie.

  11. You all do such a wonderful job, but this is the very best post ever–and Aramis Ramirez is clearly the best looking Cub in franchise history. Or perhaps he’s the best looking player in MLB history. Or maybe he’s actually the hottest guy on the planet….

It’s worth thinking about. Anyway, thanks for the distraction. Y’all are the best!

  12. I shall defer to you ladies on the hottest of the Cubs (I hear enough of that at home). I’m just cautiously optimistic, while still having the pit in my stomach.

As for Ronnie Freakin’ Woo-Woo. My theory? He actually is a Cards fan, because I no NO ONE who likes him.

    No one.

  13. Finally!!!

I’ve been dying for a cubs post. I lovelovelove it.
The hotness/cutness of this team is oh so very underrated.
All the crazy things I’ve heard about DeRosa are starting to make me very curious on that sexy man.

  14. Congrats to the Cub-hotties. They are my team, now that I do not have a team in the postseason. Plus Tiger babies are called cubs, so it’s basically the same thing!

  15. Thanks for the Cubs posting that I was waiting for all season!! Damn, those hardworking boys are fine. I have always been an A-Ram lover, but the off-season was good to the Cubbies. De Rosa AND JJ? Geez, too many to pick from!

  16. I’d give my pinky toe for a piece of Aramis but all these Cubbies are CUTE! I may be biased because of my love for them but I think this is the best looking team in baseball!

  17. are u serious uve been saying this for the past 6 years and the cubs haven’t even made it to the world series u would probably do better without that idiot jim hendry
