This is a traveshamockery! (I hope I got that right.) Kevin Durant was cut from the American team last night, because the team needs “more experience”. I’ll tell ya what the team needs, it needs hott. And also players who will crush international competition.
Can we officially name the Devil Rays Tim Wakefield’s bitches? He never loses against them! He pitched 7 innings of 4-hit ball, and his team gave him 6 runs of support, more than good enough for the win.
Meanwhile, over in Anaheim, California, USA, the Yankees fell to their old nemesis, the Angels, 7-6 in 10 innings. (Damn, that’s a lot of commas.) There was a lot of back and forth, but in the end, it was the Angels who prevailed, with an RBI-double in the 10th off the bat of Ryan Budde to bring in the winning run.
The Braves took advantage of the Mets’ night off (and the fact that they’re playing the scrubby Reds) to gain half a game in the standings, with a 14-4 thrashing of said Reds. Mark Teixeira, Andruw Jones and Brian McCann all had homeruns – Tex had 2, and McCann had a grand slam – to bring the Braves within 5 games of the first-place Mets.
The Seattle Mariners continue their push toward the playoffs with a strong showing against the Minnesota Twins, beating them by a score of 9-4. Raul Ibanez hit 2 home runs, and Richie Sexson and Kenji Johjima also had home runs. Seattle increased its lead in the Wild Card standings to 1.5 games over the Yankees with that victory.
