Hit & Run: The Call Up

Everyone has heard about Mark Cuban and the Cubs. Everyone has heard about the David Beckham spectacle. Everyone has heard about Gary Sheffield’s thoughts on Joe Torre. Everyone has heard about the Phillies’ 10,000th loss (boo!). So my news items for today are going to consist solely of hotties that recently got the call up to The Show. That’s news you can really use.

D.J. Houlton – Dodgers, P
called up from AAA-Las Vegas on July 15th

Check out the other newly-minted Big Leaguers (at least, they’re in the big leagues for now), after the jump – and let me know if there are any called-up hotties I missed!

Brandon Wood – Angels, 3B/SS
called up from AAA-Salt Lake on July 14th

Taylor Tankersley – Marlins, P
called up from AAA-Albuquerque on July 13th

Brendan Ryan – Cardinals, 2B/SS=

Charlie Haeger – White Sox, P

About Texas Gal

Pitched four years for the Philadelphia Athletics, and then played shortstop for seven years for the Montreal Expos. Taught Rickey Henderson to steal a base. Taught Nolan Ryan to throw a punch. Taught Mickey Mantle to drink a beer. Threw one seven-hitter and seven no-hitters. Wonderboy was my creation, and first Jobu shrine was in my locker. Often called "the next Dustin Pedroia". Always wear high socks and eyeblack. Prefer to slide headfirst.

  1. What a great idea, Texy! Seriously, this is a very creative Hit n Run and you found great pics of the guys.

I was hoping Brendan Ryan would on here and there he is! Well done!

  2. I’m just wondering how Texas Gal performed her “research”.

Where is the “trade deadline hotties” or the “hotties cut by football training camp”

    this can go on.

  4. Awesome, but where’s L Millz? Or do only first-time call ups count?

He got a haircut this spring, you know…

  5. I heart Brendan Ryan. I met him at the Cards Winter Warm-Up in January and he is just a great guy. We made an “I Heart Brendan Ryan” for picture day at Busch Stadium a week or so ago, he was touched, I am thinking is was his first “I Heart” sign in the big leagues. Thanks for including him on the list Texas Gal.
