Hottie Hit & Run

Lebron James leads his Cavaliers over the Gilbert Arena-less Wizards and into the second round.  Woo!  Make it rain in Cleveland, ‘Bron!  [I doubt they’ll be able to sweep aside the Nets that easily. C’mon, we all know Toronto is going down!]

In other NBA news, with the Heat out of the playoff picture, Dwyane Wade will likely receive surgery on the shoulder he dislocated in Feburary.  Aw, poor baby.  Who here is going to help nurse D-Wade back to health? [He’ll also have an MRI on his left knee – might as well get a 2-for-1 deal in case his knee needs some cutting up as well.]

Boom goes the dynamite!  A Scott Rolen line drive in yesterday’s Cardinals/Brewers game found a target, and this guy gets a souvenir.  Oh, and he got to keep the baseball too. [I fouled a ball into my face once. Yeah, I don’t know exactly how it happened either.]

 what is going on here?

I couldn’t not post this picture.  It looks as if Tony La Russa’s willing the ball to float like that. [Tony’s a warlock – there’s no other explanation.]

Big Papi looks hot signing copies of his book, “Big Papi: My Story of Big Dreams and Big Hits” (co-written by Tony Masserotti).  Love the suit and that wrist bling is love-ly.  [My copy of the book is waiting next to my bed, although I’m pretty sure what it says: “I’m Dominican, I grew up poor, now I’m rich, you can do it, too!” Or some variation thereof.]

I just stumbled across this pic, and this Michael Owen guy – why didn’t I know he was so cute sooner?  He plays for the Magpies, and . . .  nothing else really matters.  He played in some game, but I think his team lost.  I didn’t read the article closely.  I was distracted by the picture.  Can you blame me?

The Man

Jose Reyes is single-handedly keeping my fantasy team afloat, and yesterday was no exception.  He went 3-5 with 2 doubles, 2 RBI, a run scored and a stolen base.  He’s doing a great job for my RL team as well.  If only he’d share whatever he’s having with Wright and Delgado.  [I’d like to have Reyes on another fantasy team, if you know what I’m sayin’. And I think you do.]

Gone but not forgotten

In other Cardinal-related news, the Red Birds fall against the Brew Crew, the day after losing relief pitcher Josh Hancock.  I love gestures like hanging up your fallen brother’s jersey, because they’re so simple yet powerful. [RIP, Josh.]

 Kevin Mitchell

Kevin Mitchell, former Washington Redskin, passed away in his sleep at the age of 36. [Condolences to all his family and friends.]

  1. When I was 12, I was playing wiffle ball with my neighbors and I took a tennis ball to the face. The resulting nosebleed was as if my nose exploded.

Burgeoning centenarian Phillies announcer Harry Kalas called Beeg Papi “Big Pappy” when he was reading off the scores from around the AL the other day. I hurt myself laughing.

  2. Andie: I think he’s cute too.

Clare: my brother calls him that every so often. He thinks it’s amusing.

  3. I took a linedrive to the face once. Had the grossest black eye you’ve ever seen. The doctor said I was damn lucky my eye socket and cheek bone weren’t shattered, which could’ve potentially sent shards of bone into my brain. I was like, “Thanks doc. I won’t have night terrors about that or anything.”

TSW, I laugh so hard every time I see that commercial. “It’s not what you think!”
