By “action,” I do mean action. There are 4 match-ups tonight involving ranked teams, so here is a little blurb and some fellas to watch for. Also, my determination of the cuties is based on looking at roster headshots. In the majority of these pictures, the boys are not smiling and their heads are usually tilted up, as if to say, “What? Do something!” So, I may be mistaken and if you know of a cute guy I missed, feel free to leave it in the comment section. I certainly would not want to leave any hotties out in the cold. So, let’s check out the match-ups for tonight:
Villanova v. #12 Marquette: Marquette has consistently had a good Big East showing since the year Dwayne Wade and Travis Diener led them to the Final Four. This year is no exception. They are 21-7 overall, 8-5 in the Big East. Villanova is not a cakewalk, however, as they are 18-8 with big wins over Notre Dame, Louisville and at Georgetown. Should be a good game. Action Alert: ‘Nova’s got some cuties in starter Dante Cunningham (above) and 6th man Shane Clark. Marquette’s starting guard Wesley Matthews (below) is also one to look out for.
#7 Pittsburgh at Seton Hall: Pittsburgh is tied atop the Big East with Georgetown and Seton Hall is 3-9, so the Panthers from Pennsylvania shouldn’t have any trouble. In the Action Alert, this is the stinker of the night because Pittsburgh really only has one cutie, Levon Kendall, who is cute in the giant from Twin Peaks kind of way. Seton Hall is devoid of cutie players, but they do have two hot assistant coaches, Kevin Murphy (left) and Geoff Billet (right). Woo woo.
#13 Butler at UW-Green Bay: The scrappy little Butler Bulldogs are certainly the mid-major darling of this season. They have big wins over Notre Dame and Purdue, even though they are a game behind Wright St. for 1st place in the Horizon League. UW-GB isn’t terrible, they are .500 in the conference and only lost by 21 when they played at Butler. At home, perhaps the game will be closer. In the hotties department, this is the match-up of the night. Butler is not only the mid-major darling this year, but they are stacked with Action Alerts. Keep your eye on Julian Betko (wow, below), Elliot Engelmann, Grant Leiendecker, Brian Ligon, Nick Rodgers and assistant coach Brad Stevens. Finally, Avery Jukes didn’t have a picture, but if the Butler trend holds he is also hot. WI-Green Bay is also not slouching in the cutie department. Ryan Werch, Mike Schaechtner and D’Angalo Jackson also get a shout-out.
#9 Kansas at Kansas St.: Intrastate rivalries are usually great to watch but the last time these two teams met, Kansas won 97-70. So, the lack of defense on both sides is troubling and this should prove to be a high-scoring game. Kansas is fielding 3 hotties: Brennan Bechard, Brandon Rush and Darnell Jackson (below), while Kansas St. has one legitimate hottie in Jermaine Maybank and one kinda cute-with-a-funny-shaped-head guy in Lance Harris.
