This Just In: Darrelle Revis is Awesome, AP is Clueless

…in other news, kittens are cute and water is wet.  I know.  But (with all apologies to CuteSports), how exactly is Charles Woodson Defensive Player of the year?  By a 2 to 1 margin?

You have seen Darrelle Revis play, right?

Hump Day Hottie: NFL Wild Card Playoffs

Well, it’s finally here: Playoff Time!  This is when you separate the men from the boys.  Well us Ladies are separating the hotties from the not-so hotties.  Take a trip with me after the jump to see some hotties playing in the Wild Card match-ups this weekend.

NFL Playoffs – losing 20 teams of hotties for eight months Part 1

It’s late and I’m still awake, so instead of reveling in the happiness of the NFL Playoffs, I’ve decided to focus on how many cute, lycra-clad behinds that will disappear from our weekly viewing schedule for the next eight months.

In order to tide you over until August, follow the jump for one last look at the cute boys of the 2009 season who we won’t be seeing anymore…

Advent Calendar of Hotness: Day 15

It’s shocking that it took me more than 5 seconds to make this pick.  How could I overlook one of the most delectable men in the NFL.  Thank God I was discussing the Dolphins this chilly December morn, jogged my memory right quick!

Here in all his beautiful glory… Jason Taylor!

Ask the Ladies… Where the NFL Hotties Are (Part 2)

jets

Cheesy, yes. But who can resist the smoldering eyes of Mark Sanchez?

Last week, we began the onerous task of helping a reader find an NFL team to cheer for. Karen has informed us that she has narrowed down her options to the Pats, Saints and Ravens. But Karen, before you make a decision, please consider a fourth option: the New York JETS. Games Mistress takes the handoff after the jump. Continue reading

New Hottness Alert on the Buffalo Bills!

And yes, that’s hottness with a double ‘t’. No, not talking specifically about Perry Fewell, the Bills’ new head coach (though he is pretty damn hot right now). I’m talking first of all about the Bills as a whole yesterday (are we sure that was them out there?!) and about their newest addition on the sidelines: Brian Brohm ♥ Continue reading

I Was There: Bills vs. Jets, 16-13

After the win!!

It’s no secret: your writer is a big Bills fan. While I’m not super proud of the way they’ve been playing as of late, especially not against the Jets yesterday, I can’t act like I’m not excited that they finally won!

Bills Jets 10.18.09

In honor of the fact that I endured what felt like winter already to watch this ridiculous display, here is a realistic rather than “reporty” post dedicated to photos and highlights of this, um, “game.” (Please note that the photos are from quite far away, as our seats were up high and out of the wind thankfully, so no good booties this week) Continue reading

The Curse of Buffalita’s Teams

Fly Roscoe, Fly!

It’s no secret: I love Buffalo sports. But that also means that I’m no stranger with disappointment. After what looked like an amazing start last year in winning five of their first six games, the Bills managed to end in disappointment with a 7-9 record overall. It’s way too early to tell now obviously, but after yesterday’s disappointment (with my fantasy league QB against them not to mention, which creates a whole other moral dilemma by itself) it’s hard not to look back to the last three years of 7-9. And after the Sabres building me up just to let me down last year and the Mets breaking my heart year after year lately, you can’t really blame me in my losing of hope. What’s a poor fan to do? Trash Talking With Twitter

It’s no secret that athletes love Twitter. And fans love that so many athletes are a part of Twitter. I’m sure for many people Ochocinco’s Twitter is a daily source of entertainment. Athletes use Twitter for anything and everything; most of the time it is all in good fun. But it seems that some are using their Twitter account to rant and do a little trash talk. Now, I’m not uptight and have no problem with a little bit of trash talk before a game. However, I do have a problem when it is so incredibly corny or just straight up wrong. I think that if any athlete is going to use their Twitter to talk a little smack about their opponent, they should really do a better job than these people.

The Top Five Games of the Week

Ah, football season is finally here! I think I speak for everyone when I say that it couldn’t have come soon enough. Preseason football is so boring. Watching starters play about one quarter does not feed my appetite for football. Also, this will be my first season playing fantasy football (wish me luck!), so that makes the start of the season that much more exciting. There are 13 games this Sunday and another two on Monday. Some should be entertaining, while others are sure to be a snooze-fest. Unless you’re a fan, you probably aren’t counting down the hours until the showdown between the Rams and Seahawks.

So without further ado, I present to you (in no particular order and with my completely biased opinion) the top five games of Week 1…

Ochocinco To The Rescue!

Ochocinco

I know it’s just preseason, but come on. Last night, stand-in kicker Chad ‘Ochocinco’ Johnson delivered on an extra point in the 2nd quarter which gave the Bengals that one point edge over the Patriots and eventually led them to a one point victory.

In light of last night’s ridiculousness, I just HAD to post this photo (thanks KJ) and open it up for Write Your Own Caption.

Have at him!

Hump Day Hotties: AFC & NFC East

One of these three are representing the Cowboys after the jump. Who do you think it is?

One of these three are representing the Cowboys after the jump. Who do you think it is?

Some of us Ladies have been looking forward to football season, so I thought what better way to get everyone hyped than to feature a hottie from every NFL team.  Each week for the next four weeks, we’ll be featuring lesser-known hotties from an AFC and NFC division.

Last week we featured hotties from the AFC and NFC North. This week, follow me after the jump to get a peek at some hotties from AFC and NFC East.

Preseason Confessions: I dislike members of my team

Is that a bucket hat???

In other words, I hate TO. I do somewhat love to hate him too, so it’s all relatively easy for me. Yes, he’s a great player. Yes, he could really help out the poor Bills. But doesn’t matter – my mind is made up about him and I just plain do NOT like him at ALL. And in light of yesterday’s preseason lack of action, allow me to take a moment to rant now. NFL Training (Camp) Wheels: A Photo Essay

Right, Reggie. Back to work. We get it.

Right, Reggie. Back to work. We get it.

I love NFL training camp, not because football is upon us again (if it’s still hot, it’s still baseball season, in my mind) but because of the sheer entertainment value of the photos.   Reggie Wayne showing up to training camp in a dump truck, dressed as a construction worker?  Obvious publicity grab, sure, but funny in a look-at-the-rich-and-talented-athlete-being-a-cheesy-goofball sort of way.

Strangely enough, Reggie’s transportation related stunt reflected a similar theme in many of the less staged photos of training camps across the league : the many unusual ways in which the athletes travel to and around their team’s facilities.

Baywatch: Jersey Shore...Now auditioning the NY Jets

Baywatch: Jersey Shore...Now auditioning the NY Jets

So this space was supposed to be a mini-French Open preview, but after taking in some NFL Live yesterday and seeing these shots of Mark Sanchez, I felt that they totally warranted a post.

Without ever breaking a sweat in the NFL, Mark Sanchez has already been labeled the new “It” boy by GQ.  Move over Tom Brady! GQ even managed to find Sanchez a hot supermodel to help him out with the shoot.  Forget about Gisele, Hilary Rhoda was Sanchez’s arm candy. I guess GQ wanted to get Mr. Sanchez ready for the Jersey Shore this summer…either that or he’s filming a new Baywatch movie. I can’t decide.  More 70’s swimwear modeled by the Jets QB after the jump.

Also, “Friday Morning Quarterback” is Just Awkward.

This is Kerry Rhodes. Kerry recovered a fumble last night. Fully dressed, of course.

This is Kerry Rhodes. Kerry recovered a fumble last night. Fully dressed, of course.

Because the Jets played (and won! Woo!) on Thursday Night Football this week, one of the local stations picked up the game for those New Yorkers sans cable, or with cable providers who haven’t struck a deal with the NFL Network yet.  As a Jets fan, I appreciate the access, but as a football fan in general, I’m not really sold on this whole Thursday night football thing. Except for Thanksgiving.  That’s different, because it’s a holiday and the Lions deserve one day when people willingly watch them play.  (Also, my dad and grandfather need something to fall asleep in front of after we eat.)

Forgive Me Brady, For I Have Sinned

See, I knew you and your Bunch (heh, get it? Get it? Cause his last name is Brady and there was a show called The Brady Bunch and since the quarterback is the face of the team most of the time people say it’s the [quarterback's last name]‘s team and there is more than one other player on that team and they could be called a bunch. Ha Ha Ha. I am soooo funny. /every single sportscaster/sportswriter in the last five years) were playing on Sunday. I really did know that. But, well, I didn’t watch. See, I had a lot of things to do on Sunday. Ok, that’s a lie and I would never lie to you. I was listening to podcasts*. Lots of podcasts. Over 20 of them. And six of them were over an hour long. But it’s not like I watched the NFC title game either. Or at least the entire game. Ok, I caught the second half. But it’s not like you had an earth shattering game or anything. In fact, you kinda sucked on Sunday. Wow, that was harsh. I’m sorry. How can I make it up to you?

More AFC Title Game goodness after the jump. Continue reading

Hump Day Hottie: Tom Brady

I give. Uncle. I’m finally caving in and doing an HDH on Dreamboat, ok? I still haven’t forgotten how our nice happy Tony Romo post turned into some kind of battle royale, with legions of Dreamboatettes turning out to hate on my QB1. But I also recognize this ode to Mr. McScores-a-lot is long overdue, what with him and the Patriots wiping the floor with the rest of the NFL like they’re a dirty old mop.

So Tom Brady gets his HDH. Just don’t expect me to like it. Even if he is awfully dashing. Yeah, I said it – dashing. Debonair, even. It’s that chiseled jaw and perfect scruff, a lethal combination… even on a guy in a Patriots uniform.  Even on a Michigan Wolverine.

Tons more Bradyliciousness after the jump…

“The Pet Rose of Football.”

FanHouse‘s whirlpool of news is an essential daily stop for a sports fan. Michael David Smith is a particular favorite of mine, and I followed his coverage of the Patriots’ scandal with interest. And because this is the internets, and because drama brings out the crazypants, it’s time once again for AOL Comment Thread Poetry Slam. (Previous episodes can be found here and here.)

As always, I swear, I did not make any of these up. Original spelling, grammar, and punctuation have been preserved. All [sic]s implied. Also, a couple of the stanzas rhyme, but that’s a total accident.

Thursday’s Hottie Hit n Run

Bronx Hottie Alex Rodriguez became the first Yankee to homer twice in one inning since Cliff Johnson did it in June 1977. Nicely done, A-Rod. The club had been planning on taking Rodriguez out of the lineup last night because of a hurting ankle, but he insisted on playing and it obviously paid off as they beat the Mariners 10-2, giving them a 3-game lead in the Wild Card race. Also, my law school fantasy team thanks you for the two homeruns. [Two Homers in an Inning? That'll Do, Pig.]

Levitating bat!
Toss him in the river, see if he floats!

Thursday’s Hottie Hit n Run

Rangers Hottie Jarrod Saltalamacchia did his part in the absolute take-them-out- behind-the-woodshed routing of the Baltimore Orioles by the Texas Rangers last night. This was the first 30-run game by a team since 1897. 110 years, people. What boggles my mind further is that this is the most runs ever scored by a team in a double-header…….before the second game even started! Byrd and Metcalf each had a grand slam. Ramon Vazquez and Salty each had two homeruns and 7 RBIs. Texas Rangers, we salute you! [The Texas Rangers Scored More Runs Than The Total of Each Other Game Last Night ]
