As we come closer to the end of the Festival of Lights, I realized that I had gone an entire six nights without any adorable Jewish hockey players! To make up for that oversight, I give you Trevor Smith.
After checking, double checking, and even just now triple checking, I find myself in a bit of disbelief that we didn’t include the Night 6 Heeb hottie in last year’s group. Regardless, I give you the Texas Rangers’ second baseman: Ian Kinsler. Drool over him and a doughnut some more after the jump.
Surprise, surprise. On the heels of the big 116-99 win against the Toronto Raptors tonight after the fifth of the candles on the menorah burned out, we bring you my newest favorite Jewish player in the NBA – NY Knicks’ star forward Amar’e Stoudemire.
Throwing everyone a curve ball for night 4…remember Ben Wildman-Tobriner? You will after this…
Turning to the NBA’s first Israeli player, share a latke with the hottie for night 3: Omri Casspi.
Get ready to light that second candle, and get ready to say OHEY to rookie Taylor Mays!
Yup, it’s that time of year again – tonight at sundown marks the first night of Hanukkah, and we here at Ladies… would like to take this opportunity to recognize some of the finest fellows in the athletic world that will be lighting the first candle this evening. Check out Night 1’s Hunk after the jump…
(and if you happen to be in the NYC area between tonight and next Wednesday, hit up 59th and 5th to see that bad boy above – the world’s largest menorah!)
Having a little trouble catching up from the holiday week, so I decided to do a bit of a Hit and Run filled with useless, yet very interesting facts (at least I found them to be). More after the jump – hope everyone had a delightful football-filled turkey day!
Trust me, it’s not like I’m bragging by any means – I’m actually pretty glad that I couldn’t actually watch the action, given that it went from 14-3 to 14-12 in the last few seconds, in true Buffalo fashion. But after 3 weeks in a row of losing by 3 points, a win by 2 is still a win! More celebrating, reflecting, whining, and rambling after the jump…
Yes, I know it’s just exhibition time and the games don’t really count for anything. But when this Buffalo loving Lady had the opportunity to check out the new Jets/Giants digs without it being -20° out, I obviously jumped. Here is a (almost literally) bird’s eye view and review of the fabulous new stadium from last Friday’s Jets game against Washington (which started as a snooze, looked as if it may end in a win, and ended in a 16-11 loss for NY).
Is it time for football yet???
This week’s post is a bit more of a Hit and Run, but I figured with all of the hype around the All Star break, mayyyybe we should mention the fact that SPAIN WON THE WORLD CUP!!! Congrats to España, and also to Big Papi, who somehow managed to be pitted against Hanley Ramwhinerez and beat him in the final round of this year’s Home Run Derby 11-5.
And the winner of the 2010 Ladies…NBA Playoffs of Hotness is….
(suspense building by having to click on another link….)
That’s right, get pumped!! Even though neither of these lovely men are in the actual NBA finals, they are your finalists in the 1st Annual Ladies…NBA Playoffs of Hotness! Vote wisely – winner will be announced next Monday, so voting ends Sunday night at midnight!
Apologies on my tardiness – I too was somewhat stuck in the haze that is the holiday weekend. Plus I realized that I might be rushing this a bit, given that Game 1 of the actual finals isn’t even until tomorrow. On that note, I’m going to slow this down a bit and give everyone a much longer chance to cast their votes on the semifinals. Take a look, think hard, and vote away!
Thank you to everyone who voted in Round 1 of the 1st annual Ladies… NBA Playoffs of Hotness! Click that happy blue link just below here to see the brackets and vote on Round 2!
Recently, we here at Ladies… got to thinking: there are all of these playoffs, finals, big events, championships, etc. going on, especially this time of year. And while it’s important to recognize achievements of the best team and watch them fight to the finish, we think it’s also important to give special appreciation to the hottest of the hot. But fear not; this will not be my own personal list of who I think is the hottest, nor will it be a combination of who the Ladies… think deserves the Larry O’Brien for being sexy. We want YOU, dear readers, to tell us who you think should be crowned the hottest man in the NBA!
Now I’m a Mets fan (shocker!). Therefore, it is programmed in to me to not like the Phillies or anyone managing, coaching, running, or associated with the organization. But come on, Charlie – you make it too easy to dislike you! The interwebs are abuzz with accusations of the Phillies stealing signs on Monday night’s game against the Colorado Rockies. They caught bullpen coach Mick Billmeyer with binoculars, on camera. Not a smart move. And yes, I’m sure it’s annoying to be under the heat lamp and have these accusations firing at you from all directions. But do you know what the lowest thing Charlie Manuel could have possibly done? Turn the blame and attention to someone else. And who might he have singled out?
This past Monday, I treated you all to a little taste of the Mets/Cubs game through Buffalita’s camera lens and challenged you to name those booties. I’m quite impressed with how people did (though SOME people refused to put their guesses on the correct platform and left them on Facebook…), but I am glad that I was able to stump nearly everyone on Booty #1! The reveal is after the jump… Continue reading
So this post will somewhat serve a double purpose – it’s a bit of ‘I Was There’ bragging rights, as I was lucky enough to find myself in the best seats I’ve had yet at Citi Field on April 21st (which before this weekend was their last loss prior to the 8 game streak), but you can always trust your author to really focus in on what really matters: baseball booties. I found myself photographing every member of the Amazins, and as one would think with seats just behind the 3rd base line dugout, you’re going to get a lot of booty photos just given the fact that we have a good number of right handed batters. Games Mistress gave me the wonderful idea of what to do with said booty photos, so this week, I shall be playing a little game with you all – name that booty! I’ll post the answers this Friday.
(Disclaimer: My camera is getting a little old and tired, so some booties are spectacular and in focus, while others came out a tad grainy. Apologies!)
I would like to take this opportunity to wish a very HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to my fellow Ladies… – this week marks many of our one year anniversary when we joined the Ladies…family! So to Lady Bee, Lady Liz, Crane, Maggie, Raven, THE Blonde Bomber, CuteSports, and Buffalita, here is our favorite set of abs popping out of a cake :)
Special thanks to Games Mistress and Miss Minda for inviting all of us to be a part of this family of lovely Ladies… and keeping things going between the two generations!
And another special thanks is in order to our readers – we couldn’t have done this without all of you, so thank you for your continued support – keep coming back for more, and here’s to another great year of sabermetrics, football booties, and much, much more!
So the draft came and went, and I have to say that I really wasn’t super excited about this. Will the Bills pick up a QB? Will we get some more horrid rookie OL? Maybe a RB? Too many questions (so I opted for happy hours) and much to my surprise, more or less everyone is disappointed with the Buffalo Bills’ choices. Self included. Let’s take a look, shall we? Ok, well perhaps not LITERALLY. But c’mon, anyone that watched really any sport (including boxing) knows that this weekend was off-the-charts-bananas! Franchise record with a no-hitter, 20 inning scoreless standoff, NHL and NBA playoffs, drunk drivers…
Here’s a Hit & Run recap of the weekend’s events after the jump.
First and foremost, congrats to Phil Mickelson on his 3rd Masters win!!
Not to take away from that or anything, but as we watched the last few moments of the tournament, I couldn’t help but think: what’s a bored girl to do if she’s stuck watching golf? Yes, that competitive spirit can sink in just for a moment in the end, but otherwise it’s usually thought of as a great nap inducer (what with the lack of action and hushed voices and all). Usually GOLF and HOTNESS are not synonymous or even found in the same sentence. But as I shallowly searched through the photos of all Masters contestants, I was pleasantly surprised, and felt that many of these faces deserve my fellow golf loathers’ attention.
So like many of us, I spent the weekend watching some college teams duke it out. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get my sh*t together and submit a bracket on time. So in true lady form, I’d like to list my predictions for this coming week’s Sweet 16 winners taking us to the Elite 8, in beloved Lolcat caption form.
(I’d like to add a congrats to my alma mater – Women’s Basketball at University of Rochester made it to the Final Four!!)
Apologies to our own Lady Bee in advance, but we’re not just talkin’ country pride here. We’re talkin’ hometown pride. That’s right – the Buffalo Sabres’ own RYAN MILLER is a force to be reckoned with, and that means you, Canada! 45 shots on goal is impressive and all, but Ry’s stopping 42 of them and helping Team USA on to a 5-3 win over Canada this past Sunday is even more impressive in my book. More after the jump on the, well, crap that my hometown hero had to go through leading up to that kick ass night.
Riding out the Ladies… Super Bowl excitement further, I’d like to extend my congratulations to Drew, Coach Peyton, and the city of New Orleans on winning the 44th Super Bowl!!! And call it my nature, blame it on where my interests lie, but I found it only fitting to include this awesome video for K. Gates’ “Who Dat”, along with my own analysis and recap of the (incredibly disappointing) Super Bowl ads.
Yes, your writer is that lame and punny today. But I just got back from the Caribbean and am feeling all warm and fuzzy and have a desire to look at more sea creatures (explained in a mere moment). And with the Pro Bowl behind us and the Super Bowl (and Puppy Bowl!) ahead, I felt the need to interject before draft hype gets too out of hand and remind everyone just how awesome Ndamukong Suh is on all levels. Best photo EVER after the jump. Continue reading
Say it ain’t so, Sabretooth!
In all seriousness, I’m well aware that I’m known for whining just a bit. Can’t help it, all of my teams are, well, cursed you could say. So when one of them starts doing well, I get a little excited and decide after a holiday and birthday hiatus to dedicate an entire post to how hot my beloved Buffalo Sabres are, but never fear: I never count my chickens…
