Ben Roethlisberger…fix your TV? That’s the best you’ve got?

The charges* filed against Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger this weekend are serious, and in no way do the Ladies… condone such acts. Sexual violence is disgusting and pathetic, and should not be committed by anyone at any time. We doubt many of you would disagree.

One could also file a lawsuit against that shirt.

One could also file a lawsuit against that shirt.

*If you haven’t heard, Big Ben faces counts of assault, sexual assault and batter, false imprisonment, false pretenses, fraud, and intentional infliction of emotional distress. Story here. If true…not cool, Ben.

HOWEVER, I couldn’t help but smirk at the line he allegedly laid down on the Harrah’s employee who filed the suit. From the PFT article linked above:

In the civil suit…McNulty alleges that Roethlisberger asked her to come to his hotel room to fix the television, and that he thereafter forced her to have sex with him.

“Hey baby, you wanna come upstairs and…fix my TV?”

Come ON, Ben. I’ve heard some awful lines from athletes, but really? You’re a Super Bowl-winning quarterback with a crapload of money. But you need ploys like THAT? You deserve a heap of trouble, even if that is the only thing that turns out to be true here.

  1. The fact that this apparently happened a year ago, this is a civil suit, and there are no reports of actual criminal reports being filed makes this sound a little fishy. She just wants a pay day. Ben, be more careful of the ladies you sleep with.

  2. Honestly, this guy could probably get piece wherever and whenever he wants. (Srsly, someone must think he’s attractive – or at least wealthy enough to ignore that.) While sexual assault is nothing at all to joke about, it should also be something that isn’t thrown around willy-nilly to make a big pay-day.

  3. I think it’s kind of sad that we assume that because he can “get any piece wherever and whenever” that he is incapable of assaulting someone. Maybe that’s the thrill for him? The one girl that says no so you have to have her? I don’t necessarily think he did it, the lack of reporting to the police closer to when it happened is seriously fishy, but still. I wouldn’t do it with him, I think a lot of girls wouldn’t. Being a celebrity athlete doesnt make you a nice guy who could never do something like this.

  4. I went to school with him, and although he is a huge douche (which is a state that was exponentially exacerbated when he went to the Steelers) I would bet money he didn’t do it.
