By now interleague play is in full swing. A lot of people seem to have beef with it. I personally don’t mind interleague play. It gives fans a chance to see players/teams they don’t normally have a chance to. Also, it’s pretty entertaining to see some of those AL pitchers with a “deer-in-headlights” look on their face while at-bat.
Interleague is a chance to see how the AL and NL match up against one another; starting pitching, bullpen, hitting, defense, etc. Sure all that’s important, but we here at Ladies… want to focus on a more important issue: Which league has the hotter players?
Now to be fair I choose a player from each division. Let’s see how the leagues’ hotness match up in starting pitching, bullpen, infielders, and outfielders. Enjoy!
Starting Pitching
AL

Scott Kazmir: Tampa Bay Ray

Zack Greinke: Kansas City Royals

Vin Mazzaro: Oakland A’s
NL

Barry Zito: San Francisco Giants

Rich Harden: Chicago Cubs

Cole Hamels: Philadelphia Phillies
Winner: There are definitely some cuties in AL starting rotations but I have to give it to the NL in this one.
Bullpen
AL

Chris Ray: Baltimore Orioles

Jensen Lewis: Cleveland Indians

Miguel Batista: Seattle Mariners
NL

Kyle McClellan: St. Louis Cardinals

Jesus Colome: Washington Nationals

Huston Street: Colorado Rockies
Winner: This time I gotta give the edge to the AL. The NL may have the hotter starting pitchers, but the AL sure looks better in relief.
Infielders
AL

Evan Longoria: Tampa Bay Rays

Joe Mauer: Minnesota Twins

Ian Kinsler: Texas Rangers
NL

David Wright: New York Mets

JJ Hardy: Milwaukee Brewers

Ian Stewart: Colorado Rockies
Winner: Kinsler, Mauer, and Longoria are a hard trio to beat. But the AL loses some serious points because of Longoria’s facial hair and poor choice in clothing. Also, he may not be listed but the NL has Chase Utley as well. I gotta give this one to the NL.
Outfielders
AL

Grady Sizemore: Cleveland Indians

Nick Markakis: Baltimore Orioles

Franklin Gutierrez: Seattle Mariners
NL

Ryan Braun: Milwaukee Brewers

Matt Kemp: Los Angeles Dodgers

Chase Headley: San Diego Padres
Winner: This one was a no-brainer. The AL has Sizemore; they win this one.
So it seems as though we have a tie. But unlike in 2002, there should no outcry about this decision. MLB just has hot players no matter which league you are looking at.
I think we are all winners here…
I love Matt Kemp. :D
Ian Stewart is quite cute. Unfortunately, I already know someone by that name and every time I hear it I picture a kindly, silver haired older gentleman with an Australian accent.
When I was playing this game with my girlfriends back in the ’80s, we added a complication: Field the cutest team that would actually WIN GAMES.
IAN KINSLER.

That is all.
