Hometown Pride: Patrick Kane

Kane vs. Buffalo

This is somewhat of an extension of the original old favorite regular from the Ladies…: Homer Hotties but with a bit of a twist. I instead chose someone who doesn’t play for my hometown team, but is from my hometown. And with this season of NHL coming to a close, why not highlight someone that if I’m visiting back home upstate, I can’t not hear about.  Please direct your attention to Patrick Kane of the Chicago Blackhawks.

Ok so yes, he’s all of 20. But first of all, he’s a great player and proves to be very promising in his hopefully lengthy career in the NHL. Second of all, he’s absolutely adorable. And third, he’s originally from Buffalo! Did I mention he’s cute?

With only two pro seasons under his pads, Kane’s resume is already quite impressive. He was the Blackhawks’ first overall draft pick back in 2007, and after his first assist and first shootout gamewinning goal against former Sabre and then Red Wing Dominick Hasek, and being named rookie of the month in October 2007 after 11 assists and 5 goals in 12 games, he was named rookie of the year in receiving the Calder Memorial Trophy at the end of the 07-08 season.

Kane definitely has a lot to look forward to. He ended another great season this past year including his first hat trick ever in the postseason (making him the third youngest NHL player in history to post a hat trick),  which contributed to the win that took the Blackhawks to their first Western Conference Championship Game in 14 years. Be sure to look for those baby blues on the cover of EA Sports NHL ’10. And how fitting – we share favorite hockey teams ;)

So much better with shorter hair

And another for the road…

So serious

Ok fine one more…

Too cute

About buffalita

Formerly of Buffalo and Rochester and now of NYC, I am an extremely loyal Buffalo Bills and Sabres fan since birth. I *used* to support the Yankees, but Mr. Buffalita has since showed me the err of my ways and has converted me (almost fully) to a Mets fan. Come on, you think I would have had Mr. Met at our wedding otherwise? Feel free to drop me a line at buffalitanyc@gmail.com for story requests, tips, or photos you'd like to share!
