Weekend Roundup: Cutie Clutch Plays Edition

Pink Bats

This weekend surely proved to be a very exciting one in sports, what with all of the finals going on and some serious slugging. One major note to make is that BRETT FAVRE IS REMAINING RETIRED even though the Vikings are still interested, and of course, Manny has apologized to owner of the Dodgers Frank McCourt (next step: apologize to team mates). Here is a quick roundup of this weekend’s big plays, accompanied with the gorgey gents that made things possible…The New York Mets have been on a seven game winning streak, most recently sweeping the Pittsburgh Pirates at home this past weekend. Including Saturday’s high scorer with a 10-1 win and Sunday’s 8-4 victory, key plays from Jose Reyes (including stealing his 300th base) and a big hit from catcher Omir Santos bringing in two runs (with 2 more in the 8th from Beltran’s slug) were just a taste of what the gents had to offer this weekend.

Two of my favorite Mets cuties: Santos and Santana (who pitches against the Braves tonight)

While I’m not a huge Angels fan, no one could ignore the AMAZING catch Torii Hunter made, robbing Kansas City’s Miguel Olivio of a game-tying homer in the 9th, leaving the Angels with a 4-3 victory.

If that smile doesn't make you smile, check your pulse

Next up and hard to ignore was the trifecta accomplished by Boston this weekend, with the Celtics earning a huge win ON THE BUZZER with a shot by Glenn Davis leading to a 95-94 victory over the Magic in Game 4 Sunday night. The series is now tied with 2 games each.

Isn't my cup of tea, but here you go. He also totally hit the towel kid after that shot...

The Red Sox also snuck in a win after an impressive ninth inning from Papelbon, shutting out three straight hitters after letting two on with no outs. They defeated Tampa 4-3.

If I HAD to pick a BoSoxer that I think is cute, JD Drew is it.

Finally, the Bruins came through with a very key shutout win against the Hurricanes in Game 5, making the series 3-2.

Cutie rookie Blake Wheeler got to see some ice action Sunday

Cutie rookie Blake Wheeler (even if he didn't play Sunday. Still cute)

Finally, the Yankees FINALLY won a game. And my favorite head of hair on the team brought in a three run homer to help that along.

Whatever. He cleans up nice and can occasionally hit.

So there you have it. Cute guys, clutch plays. Hopefully they all called their mommas because NOTHING is hotter than a man who treats his mom well!

  1. How a dashing Canuck like Jason Bay didn’t make this list, especially after the week(end) he had I don’t know.

      • Well, to be honest, I did consider putting Bay in rather than Drew, especially because the man’s batting was outta control. I guess the light eyes/light hair (and in light of Games Mistress’ post today, occasional weird facial hair) just doesn’t do it for me. Apologies all around!!
