Hit & Run

Ladies all over Georgia rejoice; Mark Teixeira, cutie and offensive force at first, has been traded to the Atlanta Braves. But remember, ladies, you’ve got to give to receive: the Texas Rangers get Jarrod Saltalamacchia in return.

Can’t resist:

Meanwhile, the Mets were busy with moves of their own, but they don’t warrant any mention, as no hotties were involved. Oh, wait – I might’ve spoken too soon. The Minnesota Twins do get this fine-looking young man, AKA Drew Butera, (along with Dustin Martin) from the Mets in exchange for Luis Castillo:

Fresh off their thrashing of the Detroit Tigers, the Angels forgot how to score against the Mariners, and Miguel Batista pitches the Mariners to a 2-0 victory. Many would like to attribute the victory to Manager John McLaren’s rousing, pre-game speech. Or it could’ve been the sheer mediocrity of Miguel’s book. Really, Miguel, a novel? The literary world waits with bated breath!

The Cubs and Phillies play “Who wants it more?” as the Phillies win, 4-1, over Chicago. However, they also lost in a sense – Shane Victorino and Michael Bourne left the game with leg injuries (in each own’s respective leg, silly). Clare’s boyfriend Cole Hamels pitched brilliantly, going 8 innings, and only allowing 1 run on 3 hits, while Aaron “Bacon Pants” Rowand (who’s claimed him, again? I can’t keep track) cranked a 3-run homerun.

Jordan Tata, our newest favorite hottie, started and won his first major league game, allowing 2 runs in 7 innings, leading the Tigers to a 5-2 victory over the As. The Tigers banged out 11 hits in this game, before giving their young pitcher a delightful shaving cream pie in the face:

And sadly, coaching legend Bill Walsh has passed away at the age of 75. Condolences to all his friends and family.

  1. Tata is quite nice..and detroit is actually a team I have no beef with so I can embrace the hot. And TG, are you now convinced that they REALLY can’t trade Rowand now??

  2. As a Twins fan, I’m sad to see Castillo go, but my disappointment disappeared when I saw my future “Twins boyfriend” Dustin Martin. Yum. His bedroom eyes are calling out to me already.

  3. I’m just happy I can openly lust after Saltalamacchia now.

Cameron…I’m not Texy but…*clings to Rowand* he’s STAYING.

  4. What an excellent picture of Saltalamacchia.

I was still drooling over last week’s picture of him. Tall men in catchers’ gear – awesome.

  5. Metsy, Cole is mine, and Bacon Pants belongs to Texas Gal.

I can like Jarrod Saltalamacchia without shame now that he is no longer a Brave. I’m relieved.

  6. Oh, it is a relief, isn’t it? I just hated having a secret crush on a Brave…

And I’m kind of upset that Tata is an AL pitcher because now I’ll never get to watch him…

Also- it’s past the deadline, and no Rowand trade. We’re all safe. WHEW what a relief- right Ladies…?

  7. that IS a great picture of Jarrod. weirdly, the MLB website lists him at 6’4″ but only 195 pounds… not with an ass like that. no sir.

here’s hoping Saltalamacchia gets some more playing time now that he’s out from under the lumpy shadow of Brian McCann.
