Fortunately for you, TheStarterWife and I have done all the leg work- and you only have to sit back, scroll and enjoy. Land of plenty, indeed. HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY!

About Texas Gal

Pitched four years for the Philadelphia Athletics, and then played shortstop for seven years for the Montreal Expos. Taught Rickey Henderson to steal a base. Taught Nolan Ryan to throw a punch. Taught Mickey Mantle to drink a beer. Threw one seven-hitter and seven no-hitters. Wonderboy was my creation, and first Jobu shrine was in my locker. Often called "the next Dustin Pedroia". Always wear high socks and eyeblack. Prefer to slide headfirst.

  1. This is a great post to celebrate our great country’s birthday. I question the inclusion of Clyde Drexler but laud the choice of Andy Roddick. There are a lot of good looking guys in tennis (including my future husband, James Blake) but I feel that they don’t always get their due.

  2. Justin Gatlin, steroid user included?

Good pics of Roddick, Maurice Greene, and DiPietro :)

Jeremy Bloom usually doesn’t do it for me, but he has a nice smile.

  3. the rowing picture: the guy standing up is Jason Read and the guy in the front (stroke seat) is Bryan Volpenhein. And those are gold medals from Athens, not too shabby!

  4. Clare – I love Joey Cheek but it was Texy who went for Lenny K.

DP – I’ve been in the mood for hot rowers lately, mostly because I’ve been trying to get ready for a good piece on Henley which started this week. I used to coxy men’s 8’s.

  5. StarterWife – I LOVE Henley! I was lucky enough to compete in the women’s Henley a few years back, but the men’s Henley definitely takes the cake. Plus, plenty to look at while wearing fancy clothes.

    enough said

(and wtf happened to kobayashi?!? viva l’america and mr joey chestnutt, i suppose…)

  7. Sheena – I don’t know, but it took forever to get finally get the flag photos.

DP – You mean hot guys walking around in suits eating strawberries and cream? Yeah, there is nothing wrong with that at all.

  8. Yuck…I just checked out the hot dog contest. You could have warned me the other guy ralfs it all back up. So much for my 4th of July Bar-B-Qed hot dog.

  9. Well, if this post doesn’t make me proud to be an American, I don’t know what does.

Especially Chase and that Phelps fella…think he could pull that speedo down a bit so we can see the WHOLE tattoo?

  11. The best thing about putting these posts together, other than overcoming the absolute drudgery of going through tons of photos of hotties, is that I get to pick the pictures and the hotties and what order they go in.

So, of course I bookend my darling Texans at the top and bottom, with a nice Chutley chaser in the middle.

  12. What happened to Kobayashi? Wisdom teeth. Those hurt like a bastard when they get impacted… & depending when the oral surgery was, I might be shocked that he could even compete, let alone better his own top mark by ten, & the (previous) world (but not Nathan’s) mark by four-plus.

But congrats to Msr Chestnut, all the same. He seems a fitting Hakeem Olajuwon — save for the whole “eating pork” thing — to Takeru’s Michael Jordan.

  13. That shot of Huston Street may be the only thing that keeps this ridiculously hungover girl from crawling under her desk this morning. Thanks, TG.
